Giving

We appreciate that for many in our community, cost of living pressures may leave little leftover to make charitable donations. However for those that are able to support Christ Church financially we are very grateful.

For the years 2020 through to 2022 the impact of Covid on the finances of Christ Church were significant and we continue to recover from this period.

If you are able to support Christ Church, then there are various ways to do this, please click on the giving options below to find out more or simply click on the donate now button which will take you to the Christ Church Parish Giving Scheme webpage.

If you are UK Tax payer, we can claim back 25p on every £1 you donate through the Gift Aid scheme without any cost to you. We can do this no matter how you give.

If you gift via the Parish Giving Scheme (see sections below on ways to give) then your Gift Aid claim will be managed via the Scheme directly.

For all other gifts made directly to Christ Church,  you will need to either:

  • complete a Gift Aid Declaration click here for a copy Gift Aid Declaration Form ; or
  • pop your donation into a white Gift Aid envelope (please ensure that you write your name and address on the envelope in order that we can make the Gift Aid claim).

If you pay Income Tax at the higher or additional rate you may be able to claim additional tax relief on your Gift Aid donations on your Self Assessment tax return or via your tax code.

Christ Church has joined the Parish Giving Scheme (PGS) to make giving easier.

The PGS is an established service for managing regular Direct Debit and one-off  giving, designed to support churches to fund their mission and ministry. It reduces the burden of work on church volunteers and provides a simple and secure service to givers.

To sign up to regular giving via PGS, givers can set up a Direct Debit with PGS online, over the phone or by filling in a gift form. This can be made on a monthlyquarterly or annual basis. Each gift is restricted to a parish church chosen by the giver and cannot be used elsewhere. The gift will be passed back to the church of the giver’s choosing along with any eligible Gift Aid.

A unique feature of the scheme is the option for the giver to commit in principle to increase their gift annually in line with inflation. This is entirely at the giver’s discretion on an opt-in basis, but it is proving popular.

When givers join PGS, they can use PGS tokens to place on the collection plate at the Offertory.

If you would like to give in church, you can do so into the collection plate, use the contactless giving unit or use the QR codes that are displayed in church.

If you are able to complete a Gift Aid Declaration to enable us to claim the gift aid and enhance your gift, then this would be appreciated.

Legacies have been a crucial part of our income over the years. This is not something that Christ Church are able to help with, but we are always very grateful to those that remember Christ Church in their Will.
