Harrogate was treated to amazing views of the Northern Lights in October and these images of Christ Church were captured. If you have any photos of Christ Church that you are happy to display on the website and share with the community, then please email rachel@christchurchharrogate.org.uk We have a very active Junior Church & Creche at the Church. Recently the younger members of our Church have been getting creative at our Harvest Celebrations, Rogation Service and Easter Club. To find out more please visit the Young People at Christ Church page of our website. On Sunday 29 September during our Sunday services we celebrated and thanked God during our Harvest Worship. We received many kind donations of dried and tinned food for our Harvest Collection which has been divided between the Harrogate Homeless Hostel and the Harrogate Foodbank. The Flower Team produced some beautiful arrangements of Harvest Flowers and our Junior Church created some wonderful and colourful Harvest Banners to decorate our Church. We used the song “Counting Every Blessing” by Rend Collective as our inspiration for this year’s Harvest. The banners were brought into the Church and hung from the balcony with the song playing for the congregation. It was a joyful part of our celebration with not a dry eye in the house!!! Thank you to everyone that was involved in the celebrations and for the generous donations to Harrogate Homeless Hostel and the Harrogate Foodbank. The Garden Party this year had to be relocated from The Vicarage Garden to the Parish Centre due to the weather! This did not dampen spirits as, hall was transformed into an inside Garden Party with gazebo, deck chairs and a bowling green! Over 100 people attended and enjoyed scones, jam and cream and delicious cakes. A great time was had by all in the warmth of the Parish Centre! We say a big thank you to all those who baked, delivered/moved or arranged garden furniture and tents, taxied, served and most of all everyone that attended and had fun. A service of readings and prayers for Rogationtide and World Environment Day. This took place at a number of locations around the Church. Whilst the congregation listened to readings and prayed for our community and environment, the Junior Church got creative in the outdoors. They made models to represent our service using plasticine, Lego and pipe cleaners. It was a lovely service helping us to think about our local surroundings and be thankful. We were also very thankful of the beautiful sunshine! We have a very active Choir and Music Group at the Church. Congratulations to the choristers who have recently passed various levels of RSCM singing exams. In June 2024, the choir took part in a combined choir evensong at St Robert’s, Pannal. The children were great in their solo verse – choral singing is alive and well in Harrogate! To find out more about music at the our Church, please visit the Choir and Music Groups page of our website. A very big THANK YOU! We are very pleased to report that the restoration of the three faces of our historic tower clock is now complete. This would not have been possible without the extraordinary generosity of members of the congregation and local residents. We are indebted to both the Sir John Priestman Trust and the Benefact Trust who also provided grants towards the costs. For more information please refer to our clock face restoration page of our website. Thanks are of course due to everyone involved in the project but most of all thanks to all of you who contributed so generously. In November our congregation and the Rt Revd Anna Eltringham, Bishop of Ripon, celebrated with our Confirmation candidates and their families.Christ Church and the Northern Lights
