Garden Party
An annual event which usually takes place of the Vicarage during August.
Sometimes the Garden Party has been relocated from The Vicarage Garden to the Parish Centre due to the weather! When this happens is doesn't dampen spirits as the hall is transformed into an inside Garden Party with gazebo, deck chairs and a bowling green!
At the last event, over 100 people attend and enjoyed scones, jam and cream and delicious cakes.
A great time was had by all!
We say a big thank you to all those who baked, delivered/moved or arranged garden furniture and tents, taxied, served and most of all everyone that attended and had fun.
Thanks to all the made a donation to help us raise some additional funds for the Church too.

Junior Church & Creche
We have a very active Junior Church & Creche at the Church.
Recently the younger members of our Church have been getting creative at our Harvest Celebrations, Rogation Service and Easter Club.
To find out more please visit the Young People at Christ Church page of our website.

Rogation Service
A service of readings and prayers for Rogationtide and World Environment Day. This took place at a number of locations around the Church. Whilst the congregation listened to readings and prayed for our community and environment, the Junior Church got creative in the outdoors. They made models to represent our service using plasticine, Lego and pipe cleaners.
It was a lovely service helping us to think about our local surroundings and be thankful. We were also very thankful of the beautiful sunshine!

Harrogate & District Foodbank Donations
We made the podium!
In 2024 Christ Church was the Harrogate & District Foodbank’s 3rd biggest donor of food, only surpassed by collections from Waitrose customers and Morrisons customers!
During 2024 Christ Church donated 2,576 Kg of food to Harrogate & District Foodbank, that’s just over two and a half tons! We donated over 7% of Foodbank’s total food donations. That is a similar amount to the previous year (2023) when we donated 2,630 Kg of food to the Foodbank.
During 2024, the Harrogate and District Foodbank fed 4,059 people (2,750 adults and 1,309 children). Unfortunately, their costs have risen significantly, and their direct financial donations have dropped meaning that in 2024 they actually ran at a deficit financially.
The Foodbank is always grateful for donations of tinned goods and toiletries. Their website is regularly updated with items that they are in need of. We have collection points in both the Church and Parish Centre.
Thank you

Christ Church and the Northern Lights
Harrogate was treated to amazing views of the Northern Lights and these images of Christ Church were captured.
If you have any photos of Christ Church that you are happy to display on the website and share with the community, then please email rachel@christchurchharrogate.org.uk

TWAM Tool Collection
In November we had the Tools with a Mission (TWAM) van collect our huge store of donated tools and sewing machines! It was absolutely full when it left.
The tools were taken to the TWAM refurbishment centre in Rugby where they will be cleaned, fixed, sharpened and then packed and shipped out to those African countries in need of them.
Thank you to everyone who has donated tools and to the Community Fit Team and the Christ Church Team who lifted and moved the tools from the church crypt into the van.
If you would like to donate any of your unwanted tools please visit https://www.twam.uk/donatetools and check the ‘Tools Wanted’ list. Then call the Parish Office to book a drop off slot. It’s that easy! For further information email twam@christchurchharrogate.org.uk
Thank you for your support

Ignite Concerts at Christ Church
During 2024, we were delighted to host the latest Ignite Concerts with Alistair Griffin and the Ebor String Quartet for 3 different concerts, the most recent being Christmas themed.
They were all amazing musical evenings bring not only members of our congregation, but new people to enjoy our wonderful Church.

Fundraising 2024 – The Clock Face Restoration
A very big THANK YOU!
We are very pleased to report that the restoration of the three faces of our historic tower clock is now complete.
This would not have been possible without the extraordinary generosity of members of the congregation and local residents.
We are indebted to both the Sir John Priestman Trust and the Benefact Trust who also provided grants towards the costs.
For more information please refer to our clock face restoration page of our website.
Thanks are of course due to everyone involved in the project but most of all thanks to all of you who contributed so generously.
