For our last Service of Confirmation in the Celebration of Holy Communion, our congregation and the Rt Revd Anna Eltringham, Bishop of Ripon, celebrated with our Confirmation candidates and their families. It was a lovely and memorable service. A service of readings and prayers for Rogationtide and World Environment Day. This took place at a number of locations around the Church. Whilst the congregation listened to readings and prayed for our community and environment, the Junior Church got creative in the outdoors. They made models to represent our service using plasticine, Lego and pipe cleaners. It was a lovely service helping us to think about our local surroundings and be thankful. We were also very thankful of the beautiful sunshine! An annual event which usually takes place of the Vicarage during August. Sometimes the Garden Party has been relocated from The Vicarage Garden to the Parish Centre due to the weather! When this happens is doesn’t dampen spirits as the hall is transformed into an inside Garden Party with gazebo, deck chairs and a bowling green! At the last event, over 100 people attend and enjoyed scones, jam and cream and delicious cakes. A great time was had by all! We say a big thank you to all those who baked, delivered/moved or arranged garden furniture and tents, taxied, served and most of all everyone that attended and had fun. Thanks to all the made a donation to help us raise some additional funds for the Church too. We celebrated and thanked God during our Harvest Worship. We received many kind donations of dried and tinned food for our Harvest Collection which has been divided between the Harrogate Homeless Hostel and the Harrogate Foodbank. The Flower Team produced some beautiful arrangements of Harvest Flowers and our Junior Church created some wonderful and colourful Harvest Banners to decorate our Church. We used the song “Counting Every Blessing” by Rend Collective as our inspiration for this year’s Harvest. The banners were brought into the Church and hung from the balcony with the song playing for the congregation. It was a joyful part of our celebration with not a dry eye in the house!!! Thank you to everyone that was involved in the celebrations and for the generous donations to Harrogate Homeless Hostel and the Harrogate Foodbank. We have a very active Choir and Music Group at the Church. Congratulations to the choristers who have recently passed various levels of RSCM singing exams. The choir often take part in combined choir evensong at different Harrogate churches. The children have performed brilliantly in solo verse – choral singing is alive and well in Harrogate! To find out more about music at the our Church, please visit the Choir and Music Groups page of our website. Harrogate was treated to amazing views of the Northern Lights and these images of Christ Church were captured. If you have any photos of Christ Church that you are happy to display on the website and share with the community, then please email rachel@christchurchharrogate.org.uk We want to thank everyone that played a part in the remembrance service this year. A big thank you to all who donated, volunteered and came along to our Christmas Fair. We raised over £1,800 so a big thank you to everyone involved. As well as raising funds, it was a lovely event with stalls selling beautiful items, perfect for Christmas presents….Father Christmas even came to join the fun and give out some early Christmas gifts to the children that went to see him. All this along with refreshments and festive live music from our Church musicians. If you missed the event, hopefully you can join us next time! We welcomed many people to our 2024 Christmas services, regular worshipers at Christ Church, a regular worshipers from elsewhere and those that enjoys attending the services during this special period. We enjoyed an Advent Carols Service, a candlelit service of Advent Carols and Readings, a Family Christingle followed by a party, Nine Lessons with Carols, a Family Crib Service, Midnight Holy Communion and then our Christmas Day Services . At our services the collections supported our 3 chosen charities for the period. The charities were nominated by members of our congregation and then 3 were chosen representing a local, national and international charity. During the 2024 Christmas period we supported: We want to thank everyone that played a part in the services and celebrations, those that sung and played music, wardened, provided food and drinks, prepared the church the decorations and flowers, provided technical support, drove the bus, served during the services, welcomed and so much more. We also want to thank everyone that came along to the services.Service of Confirmation in the Celebration of Holy Communion
